The living room featured plush red furniture and a brightly colored area rug. In the dining room, just below the airbrushed portrait of her son — the late Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor — sat a neatly set dining table with cloth napkins.

Lil Wayne’s Songstress Shanell Joins Breast Awareness Campaign
Lil Wayne songstress Shanell aka SNL has joined forces with Hard Rock Cafe’s worldwide campaign to help bring breast cancer awareness throughout the world. The songbird has been spotted through Europe helping speak up on the global problem. Shanell aka SNL of Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment is one of the new artists asked to lend her support to Hard Rock Cafe’s worldwide campaign for Pinktober, a Breast Cancer Awareness initiative led by various “Women of Rock” including Melissa Etheridge, The Bangles, and others. While on the Young Money tour in Europe with Lil Wayne, Shanell appeared at the Hard Rock Cafe in Amsterdam on October 6th for a special signing of one of the custom-made pink ribbon Epiphone guitars to be auctioned off for charity.

Kid Sister has been one of my favorite “new” artists to emerge from the game. She’s definitely talented and definitely represents Chicago to the fullest. Her album situation has been in hiatus for the longest time, and while I think they should’ve released when “Pro Nails” with Kanye was at its peak, I’m sure it’ll all turn out for the best. Above is her album cover for the long awaited album, Ultraviolet, which has a November 17, 2009 release date will be supported by the single and video for “Right Hand Hi”, which was directed by Sarah Chatfield. And expect her to be in Miami soon, she’s here every so often. We caught her at LIV (at the Fountainebleau) a couple weeks back.

LOS ANGELES — When Michael Jackson died in June, he was just days away from launching a 50-show run of comeback concerts in London.
Now, video footage of preparations for those performances have become "Michael Jackson's This Is It," a documentary opening worldwide Tuesday.
The simultaneous showings around the globe will be anchored by a star-studded premiere at the Nokia Theatre, a 7,100-seat concert venue across the street from Staples Center, where many of Jackson's rehearsals — and his high-profile public memorial — were held.
Longtime Jackson collaborator Kenny Ortega, who directed and produced "This Is It," is expected to attend, as are members of Jackson's band and the executors of his will. Entertainers including Snoop Dogg, Smokey Robinson and Zac Efron are also on the guest list.
Fans are likely to swarm the area, too: Many waited in line for days to buy tickets for advance screenings of "This Is It" at the new Regal Cinemas on site, which will show the film to sold-out audiences Tuesday on all 14 of its screens.
The film, culled from more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage, shows an enthusiastic King of Pop meticulously crafting his moves and performing some of his most beloved hits. No critics have seen it, but Sony — which paid $60 million for the film rights — showed a 12-minute clip to entertainment journalists last week.
Some of Jackson's family members and friends have seen "This Is It" in its entirety. Elizabeth Taylor, a longtime friend of the pop star, posted her thoughts Monday on Twitter.
"It is the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen," she wrote on the micro-blogging site. "It cements forever Michael's genius in every aspect of creativity."
The 77-year-old actress added that she "wept from pure joy at his God-given gift" and urged her fans to see the film "again and again."
"This Is It" opens in theaters Wednesday for a limited run, lending it some of the exclusivity of Jackson's aborted concert stand in London.
"We think the 16 days is right. It's sort of a special event that you want to frame in a special way," said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony. Sony Corp.'s Columbia Pictures unit paid $60 million for the rights to the film based on the Jackson footage.
Jackson died June 25 at age 50. The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled the death a homicide, caused primarily by the powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative. Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has not been charged with a crime but is the focus of the police investigation.

Rap artist Jay-Z, whose song "Empire State of Mind" has been featured at Yankee Stadium during the postseason, will perform it live before Game 1.
Jay-Z, a part-owner of the Nets, will perform with fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys. Jay-Z told the AP Monday he wanted to "thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee," a line he borrowed from Joe DiMaggio.
Hopefully his songs are more original.

Making Tracks From Philadelphia to the Bronx
The World Series matchup has already generated several names like the Liberty Series, the New Jersey Turnpike Series and the Amtrak Series. Using the Jersey Turnpike, a trip from Citizens Bank Park to Yankee Stadium is 108 miles — 1 hour 44 minutes without traffic. The Phillies traveled to New York by Amtrak train on Monday, leaving after a rally in downtown Philadelphia and arriving at Penn Station at about 6:30 p.m.. But as seasoned frugal travelers between Philadelphia and New York know, you would not have to take Amtrak at all to get from stadium to stadium. $ MORE PEOPLE DIE FROM PIG FLU! ! !
Four people from Glasgow and Fife have died from swine flu bringing the number of deaths in Scotland to 21.
All four patients had significant underlying health conditions.
The deaths in Glasgow included a 16-year-old boy, a 55-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man. A 47-year-old woman from the Fife area also died.
The deaths come as a mass swine flu vaccination programme gets under way, with at-risk groups the first to be offered the immunisation.
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said: "This week's figures show a decrease in the number of people consulting their GP with flu-like symptoms, but an increase in the number of overall estimated cases.
"Since the start of September the number of hospitalised cases has more than doubled.
"This rise has always been expected as we approach winter, but this means it is even more vital that those deemed at risk do all they can to protect themselves including taking advantage of the vaccination programme."

The BET Hip Hop Awards was held October 10, 2009 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. Award shows like these are always on SoJones.com’s fashion radar and so it’s time again to spot who was hot and who was so not.
Let’s start with the eyesores, shall we?
Yung Joc will sleep real well in his Adidas trainers because he’s been dubbed SoJones.com’s best dressed at the BET Hip Hop Awards ‘09.
Also in black, but with so much more skin, Angel Lola Luv lives by the saying: “If you got it, flaunt it”. Works for everybody else within eyeshot too.
Loving Red Classic’s jacket and subtle red accents on black. Is red really the color of the year in hip hop now?
Never thought Soulja Boy would get over his “I’m-a-rapper-check-out-my-ability-to-purchase-luxury-brands” phase. He now wears Gucci with the right touch. Jim Jones also looking mighty sexy in his well-worn jeans and Timberland boots. If you get it right, less can indeed be more.

The BET Hip Hop Awards was held October 10, 2009 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. Award shows like these are always on SoJones.com’s fashion radar and so it’s time again to spot who was hot and who was so not.
Let’s start with the eyesores, shall we?
Yung Joc will sleep real well in his Adidas trainers because he’s been dubbed SoJones.com’s best dressed at the BET Hip Hop Awards ‘09.
Also in black, but with so much more skin, Angel Lola Luv lives by the saying: “If you got it, flaunt it”. Works for everybody else within eyeshot too.
Loving Red Classic’s jacket and subtle red accents on black. Is red really the color of the year in hip hop now?
Never thought Soulja Boy would get over his “I’m-a-rapper-check-out-my-ability-to-purchase-luxury-brands” phase. He now wears Gucci with the right touch. Jim Jones also looking mighty sexy in his well-worn jeans and Timberland boots. If you get it right, less can indeed be more.
Young Money’s new diva, Nicki Minaj, might have her debut album in the works for a 2010 release, but when she tried to work it on the BET red carpet… sorry it just didn’t come together. but she still looked good though you see dem BUNZZ! ! !
Rapper Lil Boosie is quite the opposite of Snoop Dogg who didn’t throw enough accessories. Lil Boosie, sad to tell you that no matter how many chains you got on there, T-Pain still holds the record with his Big Ass Chain. That being said, there’s one more sentence to go with it: Nice try
The gangsta look used to be the ‘thang’ back in the 90’s, but to pull it even try it again in 2009 like Young Jeezy did, is plain lazy

He went from being one of the finest quarterbacks to ever come out of this decade and the NFL in general to one of the most heavily criticized individuals in recent times. Having recently finished serving 18 months in prison for dog fighting, Vick is currently restarting his football career with the Philadelphia Eagles.
An eight part docu-drama is set to air on BET in early 2010, which will mostly cover the off-field life Vick is living now. Luckily for Michael it doesn’t involve running fChris Rock, recently on the Jay Leno show, quipped “What the hell did Michael Vick do? A dog? A pitbull, that ain’t even a real dog! That’s white people stuff. Dogs are white man’s best friend; dogs have never been good to black people…”
After laughing at that, I gotta agree with Chris. During the Civil Rights movement, dogs had two types of food: Alpo and Negro.rom pitbullsI’m happy for Vick, yet part of me wonders what would happen if John Elway or Troy Aikman were caught dog fighting. Would they get the same treatment and prison sentence, or would they break a record for shortest time a celebrity has been in jail (I think Paris Hilton currently holds that record). What are your thoughts, reader? Do I have a right to think of this as a racial issue? Will you be checking for this show? Have you yourself forgiven Michael Vick?

You hear a lot of talk these days about doing away with the penny.
It now costs more than a cent to make a penny which has fueled the fire to end production.
Whether or not the penny goes away may not be decided for awhile, but while the government looks at the issue, we take a look at what the penny means to us.
"The average person has a thousand pennies in their home and don't even know where they are," Gretchen McGee with First Bankers Trust said.
In fact, nearly 60 percent of pennies find their way out of circulation.
That begs the question: does getting rid of the penny make sense? How would things change?
"If we get rid of the penny, everything is going to be rounded to the nearest nickel," McGee said.
"Pricing would remain the same. When the person totalled their order...for example...if the total was $10.72, the total would be rounded down to $10.70. If it's $10.73, it would be rounded up to $10.75."
Gallagher says early on, pricing wouldn't change much because taxes could make the total an odd number. And he says expect the same rounding system for gas prices.
"It's not going to change the price of a gallon of gas. The market will still move by pennies...that will lead to no effect on how people price gas," Gallagher said.
"I think more men would like to see pennies go away than women because they don't want them in their pocket. Women have heavy purses anyway," Gretchen McGee said.
And charities like pennies. Many of them have campaigns asking you to save your pennies to raise money for their cause, because we all know a penny saved is a penny earned.
All the talk about getting rid of the penny is just talk.
Even if it comes true, no one knows when it would happen.
President Bush has ordered four new designs for the penny beginning in 2009.
